Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two close friends.”
This update on his health arrives after the boxing community had expressed condolences for the champion in the following the heartbreaking incident.
