This young athlete boasts impressive social media following
Kai Trump can count on multiple prominent cheerleaders when she begins her first LPGA appearance this Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be connected to a former US president, received a sponsor's invitation to play at Florida's Annika event in the Sunshine State.
The former president, someone who loves golf, operates several courses worldwide and regularly matches against his granddaughter.
"He's quite skilled. I can't reveal details but we have competitive games," she stated.
The golfer shared that Trump, who won't be present, told her: "Simply avoid anxiety."
"He basically suggested to compete and enjoy myself," she continued.
"In my eyes, he's just a normal grandpa. He won't be there this weekend. He's focused on presidential duties, making him rather occupied."
As an amateur, the golfer has competed in a mere three competitions in 2024 and holds the 461st position in the American Junior Golf Association standings.
However she can get advice from golf legend, in a relationship with her mother.
"He stands as the top athlete globally," Kai expressed.
"Furthermore, he's a more impressive person. He told me to go out there, enjoy myself, adapting to the flow."
The golfer will compete against multiple top competitors in professional golf at this tournament, including world number two Nelly Korda, British golfer Hull, professional Thompson and 2023 champion champion Vu.
Officials commented that involving Kai helps introduce the sport to new audiences, especially with the next generation.
Kai maintains a massive following and recently launched an exclusive apparel and wellness label.
The competition starts at 17:30 GMT.
