Line of Duty Confirmed for 7th Series on BBC
The beloved police drama Line of Duty will make a comeback for its seventh installment, announced by the BBC.
A brand new six-part series written by Jed Mercurio will begin filming in Northern Ireland this spring, according to the production team.
The actress expressed excitement about the return, stating she was "so excited" about the series' return. Adrian Dunbar added, "What a joy it is to know that the Three Amigos will be reuniting together soon."
The last season wrapped up in 2021 with a finale that attracted over 17 million audience members. Speculation about a new season have been circulating for some time, but official word only arrived this week.
New Challenges for The Team
The seventh season will open with AC-12 no longer existing and renamed as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, according to the announcement.
Steve Arnott, Kate Fleming, and Adrian Dunbar's part remain tasked to combat corruption within the police force.
Their work "faces unprecedented challenges", and in this climate, the trio will take on their "most delicate case so far."
Fresh Face and Complex Case
An additional officer, DI Dominic Gough, described as a charming officer known for busts of organized crime, is accused of misusing his authority to act as a sexual predator.
However, this investigation could be a deliberate distraction from a bigger threat still active in the background, plot details suggested.
In a statement, the creator commented: "Everyone involved feels enormous gratitude to the show's fans."
"It's an honor to have had countless followers watch the developments of AC-12 over multiple series and we are thrilled to be returning for a seventh season."
He added: "Misconduct in the UK is supposed to have ended while the series was not airing, so I've been forced to use my creativity."

Martin Compston described being part of the series as "a job of a lifetime".
"Not only the show's success but the people I've collaborated with I now call dear friends."
"I can't wait to wear the uniform again and get the team back together," he added.

The drama premiered in 2012 and evolved into one of the most popular television series of the last decade, attracting guest stars such as Kelly Macdonald.
The BBC haven't revealed exactly the new season will premiere.
The finale of season six brought the long-running storyline about the search for criminal mastermind known as "the mysterious H" to a conclusion, and producers indicated at the moment there were no plans for additional seasons.
However, the network confirmed on this week that a new season is now being produced.
