League Commissioner Adam Silver 'Upset' over Arrests

Speaking about the arrests for the first time, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the events of the past few days.

"There's nothing more important to the NBA and supporters than the fairness of the game," he told Amazon Prime. "And so I felt uneasy. It was very upsetting."

Silver further said an league probe into Rozier's conduct in March 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a game he participated for the Hornets against the New Orleans Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"We were informed by the regulators and the betting companies," he continued.

"We then looked into that situation and were very transparent about it. Although there was that aberrational betting, we, honestly, couldn't find anything.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can do all kinds of things that the NBA is unable to.

"So, we've been working with them from that point. And, of course, what they revealed yesterday was an indictment.

"And two and a half years after, he still hasn't been convicted of anything, in justice to Rozier.

"Obviously, it appears unfavorable, but he's been suspended, and so it is a balance here between upholding rights and conducting an inquiry."
