Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
